- TOEFL or IELTS required for international applicants whose citizenship country's primary language is not English, unless eligible for a waiver (citizenship or degree in an English-official-language country, or degree where English was the sole/primary language of instruction with school documentation). Whiting School accepts TOEFL iBT (incl. Home Edition, ITP Level 1), IELTS Academic/Online, Cambridge English (B2 First, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency) and DET; preferred minimums "recommended but not required": TOEFL 100 (0-120 scale) or 5.0 (new 1-6 scale), IELTS 7, Cambridge 185, DET 135; TOEFL Essentials not accepted; scores older than 2 years not accepted.

- Required: online application with statement of purpose, supplementary information section, unofficial transcripts, TOEFL/IELTS for international students, 3 letters of recommendation. GRE not required for Spring 2027 and Fall 2027 applications. Non-U.S. applicants strongly encouraged to submit a professional credential evaluation. Three-year bachelor's degrees accepted. Work samples optional. Decisions place increased importance on mathematical course background, grades (GPA) and recommendation letters; no minimum GPA published. Fall 2026 statistics: 753 applications, 375 admitted. Limited partial financial support for some master's students. Department prefers applicants apply to only one AMS programme. No transfer of non-JHU credits.
