- TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic. MS&E minimum expected score: TOEFL 100 or IELTS 7.5 (higher than the Stanford-wide minimum of TOEFL 90 / 4.5 on the post-21-January-2026 scale / IELTS 7). Stanford-wide exemptions apply (first language English; degree from a university where all instruction was in English; two or more consecutive years of full-time professional or educational experience in English in the past 10 years). Scores valid two years.

- Official GRE required of all applicants regardless of education or work experience (must be taken by the deadline; hardship exemption may be requested; no waiver for work experience; GMAT not accepted instead). Average admitted GRE 2025: Verbal 159, Quantitative 167, Analytical Writing 3.9. Statement of purpose (max two pages single-spaced), three letters of recommendation, scanned transcripts (with grading scale, class rank and GPA if available; degree certificate for completed degrees), resume/CV, selection of at least one academic interest, application fee USD 125. Work experience not required. Most students finish in five quarters (18 months) including a summer internship; can be completed in one academic year full-time. Financial Analytics is one of several MS concentrations. MS admit rate 7.75% (2025).
