- TOEFL iBT minimum 100 with no individual component below 22, or IELTS overall band 6.5, for international students not instructed in English. Exempt if prior degree from an English-language institution or English native speaker. McGill graduate admissions do not accept Duolingo (DET) or PTE; IELTS Online and TOEFL MyBest scores not accepted; scores must be sent electronically (code 0935).
- How grades are compared
- China (McGill GPS equivalency): 4-5 year Bachelor's; 'A minimum grade of B, or a percentage grade equivalent to a B, is required.' B (3.0) = 80-89 on Percentage scale A, 78-82 on scale B, 75-77 on scale C; if the institution uses a different scale, use the institution's conversion and upload a copy (https://www.mcgill.ca/gradapplicants/how-apply/you-apply-mcgill/equivalency). The program itself requires CGPA 3.2/4.0.
- Other requirements
- Transcripts, two letters of recommendation (academic preferred), CV (encouraged), Statement of Purpose; listing at least 3 proposed supervisors is strongly encouraged for M.Sc. Application fee CAD 132.90. If CGPA is slightly below 3.2 but CS/Maths record is superior, the application may still be considered. Applicants do not choose thesis/non-thesis at application; both tracks are available after admission (non-thesis = 15 project credits + 28 coursework credits). January admission generally not accepted.
