- Cornell Graduate School rules for professional master's degrees: TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic only (no Duolingo, PTE, TOEFL Essentials). IELTS overall at least 7.0. TOEFL iBT no overall minimum; sub-scores Speaking 22, Reading 20, Listening 15, Writing 20 (tests before January 2026) or Speaking 4, Reading 4, Listening 3.5, Writing 4 (tests from January 2026). Scores valid two years. Exempt with a US bachelor's degree, a degree from an English-official country taught in English, or at least 2 consecutive years in the last 10 of full-time study/work in a primarily English-speaking country. China not on the exemption list.

- Prerequisites must be satisfied prior to matriculation (equivalents of Cornell MATH 1910/1920/2940, ENGRD 2700, CS 1110). GRE preferred over GMAT; current Cornell students exempt. Two letters of recommendation required, three preferred. Resume required. Academic Statement of Purpose (max 1000 words). Asynchronous video interview released shortly after the admission deadline. Concentrations include Financial Engineering and Data Analytics. Spring admission (October 1 deadline) only for current Cornell undergraduates. Duffield M.Eng. applicants applying by February 1 for Fall are automatically considered for fellowships, but the ORIE Fall deadline is December 1.
