- Other requirements
- BME is the one exception to university-wide admission: "To be considered for the program, you must indicate BME as your first-choice major on your application." No separate application is required. Students are admitted to BME "based on evaluation of credentials and space available", and "It is possible to be admitted to the university without acceptance to the BME major"; students not admitted to BME (or who did not apply to it) cannot later select it as their intended major. Goal of enrolling 100-120 new first-year BME students each year; transfer students cannot apply to BME. Application via Common App or Coalition on Scoir: personal essay, Hopkins supplemental essay (350 words), activities list, secondary school report with counselor recommendation and transcript, two teacher evaluations from different subjects, mid-year report, USD 70 fee or fee waiver; optional extra materials via applicant portal. SAT (Math and EBRW) or ACT (Math, Reading, English) required, superscored, self-reported scores accepted, no minimum scores; AP/IB and ACT Science/Writing optional. No interviews offered. International applicants submit the Certification of Finances form; Hopkins is need-aware for international students and international students who will need aid must apply for it as first-year applicants. No specific high-school courses are required (the 4-year course recommendations are "not requirements"). Class of 2029 profile (Homewood): SAT middle 50% 1530-1570, ACT middle 50% 35, average unweighted GPA 3.95, 99% in top 10% of class. No gaokao, A-level, IB or China-specific requirements published. Major offered by the Whiting School of Engineering.
