- TOEFL iBT overall 100 with no less than 20 in each of the four components, or IELTS (Academic or UKVI) overall 7.0 with no less than 6.0 in each component; McGill Certificate of Proficiency in English (min A- in advanced courses) also accepted. Exempt if English is the mother tongue, if the degree is from a recognized institution where English is the language of instruction, if the degree is from Canada/USA, or after 4+ consecutive years living and studying or working in an English-speaking country. Electronic scores only (code 0935). Institutional TOEFL not accepted.
- How grades are compared
- China (McGill GPS equivalency): 4-5 year Bachelor's; 'A minimum grade of B, or a percentage grade equivalent to a B, is required.' B (3.0) = 80-89 on Percentage scale A, 78-82 on scale B, 75-77 on scale C; otherwise use the institution's own scale (https://www.mcgill.ca/gradapplicants/how-apply/you-apply-mcgill/equivalency). ECE: CGPA 3.0/4.0 or GPA 3.2/4.0 in the last two full-time academic years.
- Other requirements
- Course-based M.Eng. (non-thesis). Satisfying the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission; admission is very competitive. The ECE department does not accept May (summer) admission. Application via McGill Graduate Admission portal (applications for Fall open September 15).
