Accepted English tests
Required if the undergraduate degree was from a university where instruction and examination were not in English. SGS minimums: TOEFL iBT 93 overall with 22 in Writing and Speaking (new 1-6 scale: 4.5 overall, Writing 4.5, Speaking 4.0); IELTS Academic 7.0 with at least 6.5 in each component; Cambridge C1/C2 185 overall with 176 in each component; CAEL 70 (60 each part); COPE 76; U of T Academic Preparation Level 60 with B. Tests must be taken within the last 24 months. TOEFL ITP/MyBest and IELTS Indicator/One Skill Retake not accepted.
How grades are compared
Programme minimum is B+ (U of T 77-79%) in the final year (two terms). Other requirements
GRE strongly recommended for applicants without a Canadian university degree; GMAT not accepted. Three letters of support (faculty and/or employers, at least two academic preferred). Resume/CV (1-2 pages), programme-specific essay answers, transcripts (unofficial at application stage). Selected applicants are interviewed; no one is admitted without the interview. Fall (September) intake only. 16-month programme including an 8-month paid industry internship. Concentrations: Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, AI in Healthcare, Computer Science, Data Science, Data Science for Biology, Quantum Computing. Non-refundable SGS application fee.
