- Admission is to Duffield Engineering, not directly to the CS major; students indicate CS interest on the Common App and affiliate with the major typically in the second semester of their second year after completing CS 2110, CS 2800 and MATH 1920 with at least C in all completed CS/MATH courses and an average of at least 2.50 in CS 2110 and CS 2800 (https://bowers.cornell.edu/bachelor-science-computer-science/apply). Application via Common App: $85 fee or fee waiver, official high school transcript, school report, counselor recommendation, two teacher recommendations (for Duffield at least one from a math, science or computer science teacher), Cornell supplement for Duffield (two essays of up to 200 words and four short responses of up to 100 words). Early Decision is binding; ED supporting materials due November 13, RD supporting materials due January 19. International admission is need-aware; financial aid must be requested at the time of application. No gaokao policy or China-specific grade requirement published.
